Name Bugs

Do you like our bugs ?
We designed them by using our names and symmetry.

We wrote each name and found the reflection, just like in a mirror.
Can you find the line of symmetry in each bug?

Square Numbers

A Square Number is the number you get when you multiply a number by itself.

1 X 1 = 1
2 X 2 = 4

3 X 3 = 9
4 X 4 = 16

5 X 5 = 25
6 X 6 = 36 and so on.

Look how Third Class worked this out with cubes.

Brain Boosters 2013

Some Brain Boosters for you.
Don't forget your Thinking Cap!

1. Some children were playing hide and seek in a park where there were seven trees. One of the children was “It” and the others were all hiding behind trees. You could not see them, because they were hiding. See if you can figure out the fewest possible number of children hiding, using the following information:

A girl was hiding to the left of a boy.
A boy was hiding to the left of a boy.
Two boys were hiding to the right of a girl.

Hint: Draw a picture or diagram.

2. The rope ladder of a boat hangs over the side of the boat and just reaches the water. Its rungs are 20 centimetres apart.
How many rungs will be under the water when the tide rises one metre?
